Lighthouse, acrylic on canvas (2011).
“Live clean, innocent lives as children of God, shining like a beacon of light in the dark world.” – Philippians 2:15
Painting by my very talented and creative daughter, who was eleven at the time she created this beautiful work of art; and who embodies the above verse penned by Paul of Tarsus.

Goodness. What an amazing painting!
Thank you! I will make sure my daughter (the artist) reads your kind comment.
My mouth was literally gaping open when I read (and re-read and re-read) that B created this stunning painting. What a GIFT! So inspirational! I couldn’t stop staring at it. Tell her I’m incredibly proud of her…despite not seeing her for so long, so much of her personality shines through this art. xo
JayCee,
Thanks for your words of encouragement. She was happy to read your comment. I agree, her art is a great outlet for her vibrant and creative personality.
Blessings,
Una-Melina
Dearest Una- I’ve been reading your blogs, albeit quickly fitting this little pleasure in between other tasks as a treat. 🙂 When I was pondering how to select some art books for my son who wants to explore drawing, the House Of Light image came to mind. Can you recommend some worthy books for me to put in his hands? We’ve not done much with art up to this point so lay it out there!
Donna,
I would be delighted to help! I cannot express how giddy I get when I’m asked for worthy book recommendations. *grin*
However, first it would be helpful if I knew the age of your son, or even a target age range (for using the books with multiple children/students together). It sounds as if you would be giving him the books to use on his own, so presumably he is a fairly competent reader already?
Given enough information I might just do an entire post on this subject, or even a series of posts if there is enough interest.
Cheers,
Una-Melina
Hi Donna,
I have listed a few general recommendations in the post Drawing With Children. Hopefully that will help get you started and headed in the right direction.
